ipod Dead, then Resurrected
My ipod mini finally died this week. It wasn’t surprising since most batteries for ipods only last 2-3 years. So I had to decide whether to send it to apple for $65 or do it myself. I looked around at battery prices and tutorial videos and decided that doing it myself was the way to go. I found a battery at ipodbattery.com for $16 + $5 ship. Cheapest I could find. The battery comes with a little screw driver as well. And then I found a great tutorial site at ipod how to video.com. The site has great videos for getting this stuff done without hurting your gadgets. Their biggest tip, which is very important, is to only pry open the device with a Plastic tool of some kind. Other tutorial sites I saw used a screw driver or metal tool to pry it open and they damaged the ipod a little each time.
This was a great little learning experience. I always like doing things myself if i can. It is always cheaper that way too. You can do this in under 20 minutes for under $25.
